“There’s absolutely no point in being a nominal Christian!” (a wise man)
At first glance, there seems to be a major difference between a nominal
Christian and a normal Christian. But once you take a good look at it,
then think about it, there isn’t much difference at all! I mean, take
the total number of Christians in any given congregation, then take a
percentage of those who are truly active, laboring hard and committed to
achieving goal worthy of Christ’s excellence. Then, nominal and normal
don’t appear to be so far apart….!
Paul urges his spiritual son, Timothy, on many occasions to do excellent
works. Not just what we would consider normal but outstanding, practical
and achieveable goals. After all, Paul knew just like anyone else in the
first century that God had endowed each and every Christian with skills,
talents and abilities empowered by the Holy Spirit.
For what purpose?
Certainly not to be either nominal or normal. Rather, we are infused
with the gifts of the Holy Spirit to activate and achieve works of
excellence.
What amazing gifts we have!!
