“The Christian ideal hasn’t been tried and found wanting. Rather it has
been found difficult and left untried.” A wise Christian man.

It has always amazed me that the most difficult ethic to follow
consistently is principle. I often wondered why families, society in
general, churches and Christians often employ their own brand of rules
and regulations (many of them implied and not clearly stated) in
addition to Christ’s principles of life. The reason is that people find
it easier to live under law than grace and prefer the strictness of
rules.

We live under grace and not the blind obedience to regulation. Under
grace, we forgive and forget. Under grace, we serve, give, are
compassionate, inclusive and peaceful. Under grace, we imitate Christ
every day.

That isn’t easy to do in the modern sophisticated world in which we
live. Many times, the entire design of the Western influence is opposite
to our Christian nature.

It’s an everyday choice, an everyday blessing and an everyday gift of
life, the very life for which Christ died in our stead.
