“Gracious love, mercy and peace will be with us, coming from God, the Father, and from His Son, Jesus Christ, through truth and love.” 2 John 2 (Simple English Bible)
Doesn’t this sound a little simplistic to you? I mean, c’mon, we all live in a sophisticated, complex and constantly changing world. Our perceptions, expectations and plans are always shifting and taking unpredictable turns. Anyway, who can really get by on love, mercy and peace these days?
Some things never change. Our needs and the needs of those who know and love us are similar. We all want to be accepted, loved for who we are and able to live in relative peace and harmony. When it comes right down to it, the bucks and promotion don’t matter. If I had a 100% increase in my salary tomorrow, it’d all be spent and fully committed within a few months, right?
God has expectations of us. He provides our needs through love and truth. We are covered by His mercy and peace. The expectation is that we will do His will and live for Him.
Unless, of course, you prefer the big promotion or salary increase.
