Thoughts for Thursday

in Daily Thought

The little boy stood in front of the entire congregation. It was his turn to recite the 23rd Psalm. He wasn’t as bright as the other kids but he tried anyway. “The Lord is my shepherd,” he began, then faltered and continued, “and that’s all I need to know.”

I think too many times Christians forget the basics. In the modern world in which we live, it is expected that we keep up with business trends, political agendas, new products and services, the news and a whole array of information churned out for “our” benefit. And, just in case we miss the broadcast, the messages are repeated over and over in different media and methods.

Perhaps it would be good to remember the simple thing:  Jesus, our Lord, is and always will be our Shepherd. He is there no matter what. He is there in any and all circumstances. He is there when others fail us. He is there when we fail, too.

HIS IS THERE! Just as He promised.

I dump all my worries and concerns on Christ’s shoulders before I get into bed. Hey, He’s going to be up all night anyway, right?

Are you back to basics, too?

Steve
