“If one tells the truth, one will be fond out sooner or later!” Oscar Wilde
Sometimes, I become very frustrated with the internet and e-mails. Aside from spam being a major problem, even with filters, it seems there are well-intentioned people who pass on information that is out of date, irrelevant, incorrect or just plain innocuous. In any event, there are days when I open my e-mails and find a ton of junk in front of my eyes!
There’s nothing wrong with information, even advertising. If you’re looking for a new refrigerator, then scanning and comparing the ads is great. You can see what meets your needs. But too much information is distracting and sometimes, contradictory or misleading.
So how do I sort out my “information needs”?
First, if it isn’t the truth, then it isn’t necessary, no matter how well-intentioned. Second, if it cannot meet any of my needs, then it will not relate to my life. And last, if it takes me away from what I should be doing, then it is distracting.
It is the same with our spiritual awareness, too. God’s truth is absolute, exclusive and on the mark all the time. Perhaps I won’t always like what He has said but I know that more anything else in this world, it is 100% accurate and reliable.
God doesn’t send spam, now does He?
Steve
