“If you own a dog, why are you still barking?” Swahili proverb
When I teach courses in the Cape Bible Seminary, I can detect particular moods in the students. Some days are very easy to teach the Word and the entire flow is just incredible. Their comments and contributions spark the same things in me and an hour passes before we knew it was even gone.
And there are times when I totally miscalculate, too.
After one recent session, I asked if there were any questions after a class on the Church in the Bible (in Acts). One person said that “my church” doesn’t do the things that we had just studied. He said that the leadership within “my church” have already decided what to do. Even after the class, this man continued his arguments, insisting that the way he saw things was correct.
There are some Christians who just can’t change the subject or change their minds. While the world desperately needs the gospel and people all around are lost and confused, it seems there are heated arguments within the church that doesn’t amount to a hill of beans, baked, fried or boiled.
Why can’t we concentrate on the simple message of Christ? After all, He was the best teacher this world has ever known and if we do it His way, there will great results.
Don’t you think?
Steve
