My car was broken down

“Don
’t fall in love; it will stick to your face.” A wise man

My car was broken down at the side of the road. Myserious grinding noises were heard from underneath the floorboards. In my mechanical genius mind, I knew that once the car lost power and slowly ground to a halt that I couldn’t fix it with a rubberband and a screwdriver, my only tools. It was nearly night and I was stuck in a bad place near the townships. A crowd soon gathered and I had several offers of help. One man came to the fore, asked if he could have a look and while he examined the car, was totally quiet and very calm. He quickly diagnosed the problem: clutch.

We made plans while other men tried to get my attention so they could get a cut into the deal. We introduced each other and discovered that we were both Christians. “How did you know?” I asked John.

“It’s written all over your face and in your heart,” he replied.

We hooked up the tow rope and John drove me back home. The next day, he had returned with all the parts necessary and repaired my car within a few hours. He refused all payment except for the costs of the parts.

If Christians are truly in love with Jesus and committed to His service, it will be written in our hearts and all over our attitudes. We will be focused and available to serve. We will have the peace that passes all understanding in our minds. We will extend Christ’s love to those in need.

John is still a good Christian friend today. We often chat about the incident that brought us together. I have regularly taught in his church and he and his family have visited my home. It’s written all over our hearts.

What’s written in yours?

Steve

PS We apologize for Tuesday’s Thought for the Day. Evidently, there was a glitch in the system and parts of the message were dumped along the way. Several people e-mailed and we appreciate their advices. Hopefully the problem has been solved.
