“We, the people of the State of California, grateful to Almighty God
for our freedom…..” Preamble of the State of California, 1879

It astounds me and shames me as an American that God has been
sidelined to such an extent that these words sound strange in my
ears! In every Preamble of every single state of the United States of
America, there is thanksgiving to God, our Father, for His blessings,
mercy and providence! Through turbulent and at times, violent
incidents, America became a nation under God. As much as its
detractors would like to pretend otherwise, there was no separation
of church and state detailed in the Constitution. The Founding
Fathers recognized God’s authority and allowed that every citizen
could worship as they pleased.

With the erosion of ethics, morals and common sense, America has
become a dangerous place. Psychologists, psychiatrists and other
mental health professionals are stumped as to the reasons of the rise
of violence, perversion, drugs, crime and decadency in schools and
communities. Volumes of books postulate theories and ideas to account
for murderous actions for seemingly minor reasons.

If Christians lose the plot, if Christians are not strong, if
Christians rationalize away their vision, if Christians do not heed
the Truth, then America is truly lost. Each of us must be Christ’s
voice. Each of us must keep our eyes on Christ. Each of us must stand
strong.

“We, God’s chilrden, are greatful to Almighty God for our freedom in
Christ….”

Could this be our Preamble?

Steve

NB A special thanks to Colin Miller (Florida) for reminding me of our
nation’s Preambles.
