Friday – It seems that this happens every election cycle

“We have put our hope on the living God. He is the Savior of all men, especially believers. This is why we work hard and try so hard.” I Tim 4:10 (Simple English Bible)

I was in the United States last year during the run up to the Presidential elections and afterwards. Miracles were promised after eight years of a Republican Presidency. The country was teetering on the brink of economic collapse and according to some, it augered for the end of Western civilization as we know it. Well, Americans went to the poles and selected one man whom they thought would give them hope and comfort. As it turns out now, there was more hype than action. (I know I’m gonna get e-mails about this…!)

It seems that this happens every election cycle. Media hype, politicians soliciting votes in super suits and ties, banners and buttons appear in a rash of flurry. Voters are promised expectations beyond the pale and become disillusioned after very little changes afterwards.

Our hope is in the living God! Our faith is in His wisdom, strength and blessings! Our toil and labor for the Master is because we have been promised expectations over and above anything we ourselves can think or dream! Yes, go and vote. Mark your mark. Demand that politicians live up to their promises. Be a good citizen.

But, ensure that your hope is in the living God at all times!
