“If we live, let’s live for the Lord. If we die, let’s die for the Lord. It doesn’t matter whether we live or die — we belong to the Lord!” Rom 14:8 (Simple English Bible)
Being churchgoers, I’m sure that most Christians carefully dress for Sunday. (I mean, there are exceptions and it appears as if some just don’t care what they wear.) We try and appear presentable and neat so that our worship to God is unhindered and thoughtful. When the service is over and we’re home, we relax and go about our planned events. Yet, each Christian inside his clothes is still a Christian. I believe that we should show respect for our fellow worshipers and at least put others at ease so no one is distracted. It is courteous and kind.
Paul’s point is that we belong wholly to Christ. We are His followers and enjoy His blessings. Our circumstances shouldn’t dictate whether we live the righteous life or temporarily set it aside for sake of expediency. Our commitment is total because we belong to Christ. No matter where we are or what we do, we are wearing His name and witnessing His truth.
At all times and in all places!
Steve
