Storage Building Update

January 11, 2010

in News

The storage facility is marching along! Last year, just before the summer break, the concrete slab and floor was thrown in one long hot day of work. Pastor Johannes worked the men hard but they all willingly labored until the slab was poured in one attempt. They finished at about 8pm, very tired and exhausted but happy that it was finished. There weren’t many hiccups — all the planning and materials were easily at hand.

It’s now 2010.

Johannes has worked schedule for January but is willing to start early. I’ve ordered the cement blocks, cement, sand and steel rods for the columns which should be delivered within a day or two. The workers will throw themselves into raising the walls to roof height by Friday. Then, its a matter of the roof, steel roller door and floor sealant. I’m not sure that this stage how much we’ll be short but we are praying that the Lord will provide.

Once the building is complete, it will be the final link in the chain from Michigan to Africa for the boxes of Bibles, Sunday School materials, reference books and Christian literature. There is such a need for these tools to teach and train Christians for practical ministries within their own churches and communities. The Bibles have been sent with evangelists and church leaders as far away as Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. (I even had an enquiry as far away as Nigeria, 4000 miles northwest!)

We want to thank all those who have provided resources and prayed so earnestly with us. Our prayers are being answered and the anticipation among the African Christians is palpable!

I haven’t done the finals but I think we’re about $3000 short. I must cost the steel roller door and the floor sealant.
May God bless you,
