There is a church bun fight occurring right now

“If one member is suffering, all of the members are suffering, too. If another member receives honor, then all the members are happy for him.” I Cor 12:26 (Simple English Bible)

There is a church bun fight occurring right now. It ain’t pretty and people have chosen sides over a trivial matter. Each side wants to be in the right and show that the others are wrong. The has the potential of splitting the congregation and even spilling into churches in the surrounding area. A few have left already, attending other congregations, spreading the discontent there, too. For most of last year, everyone was friendly and accommodating. Now, the same people who used to be friends and spiritual companions are now pointing fingers and name calling.

Paul wrote about the Lord’s Body. Regardless of the position we have, we all all part and parcel of Christ’s body. Everyone has a function in the church. Everyone had sinned but were now forgiven. Everyone has a talent, skill or ability. We are together on this one.

Right now, this church is hurting badly. Yet, Christians in the surrounding area are steering clear of this debacle. They fear that if they help, they’ll all be tarred with one brush or another. What they don’t understand is that the situation could very well spill over into their churches.

In the very next chapter, Paul wrote the most complete definition of Christian love. We really need this love in order to ensure that the Lord’s Body functions as it should. Make sure you spread a little love today to your fellow believers. I will, if you will!

Steve
