“So, the life which I now live is not really me — it is Christ living in me! I still live in my body but I live by faith to the Son of God. He is the One who loved me; He sacrificed Himself for me.” Gal 2:20 (Simple English Bible)
She looked so smart and poised on Sunday during the worship service. She sang like an angel, taught Sunday School for the kids and enjoyed chatting with folks on the way out. When she was hospitalized for a long time with cancer and eventually died, people from the congregation who had visited her regularly, offered to clean out her apartment. What they discovered hidden in closets and drawers were items no Christians should have, including drugs. Everyone was so shocked that this woman could have fooled the church for so long.
Goodness, righteousness and beauty all bubble from the inside out. Since we have accepted Jesus into our lives, we are no long the same people were once were. Our entire outlook and lifestyle reflect Christ! We are His people and His followers.
Yes, we can fool people for years. Yes, we can hide things away. But if we are honest with ourselves, ensuring that we follow His footsteps and hold to our faith, then we are truly His.
What do you look like?
Steve
