“When someone is being tested, he shouldn’t think that God is tempting him to do wrong. Evil cannot tempt God and God does not tempt anyone with evil.” James 1:13 (Simple English Bible)
I think I was in high school when I heard about teen pregnancy. The girl has become a lay-about but the guy had the nudge-nudge wink-wink, boys will be boys sowing their oats reaction. I thought it strange that one party could be so sexually promiscuous but the other was just having fun. I still don’t understand this reaction. The girl’s family said that their daughter was seduced by a Christian boy and it was the church’s fault that the pregnancy had occurred! Evidently the boy told his girlfriend that their love was pure and godly and it was God’s desire for them to express their love this way.
God doesn’t tempt anyone with evil or sin. To blame God for famine, disease, wars and poverty is nonsense in the extreme. Man has been very good creating his own global problems, then blaming it on someone else. And a silent God is an easy target for people who want to shift the blame elsewhere.
We will be tempted. Temptation itself is not sin unless we give into it. Satan will entice and seduce, count on it!
Yet, God has ensured us that we can resist any and all temptations placed before us and it isn’t His doing.
Say NO! to temptation! Just say NO!
