“Let’s pray for the hidden Christians!” Bro Toto

It was the end of the Sunday worship service. Mark Vernik, a pastor from the
United States, had just delivered his first sermon in Africa, which was
translated into French — another unique experience for Mark! The Congolese
Christians had enjoyed the singing, worship and prayers. It was time to have
a final session of prayer and this amazing statement was made by Bro Toto.

He was concerned for the welfare of Christians. Not so much the ones who
were hiding spiritually — staying away from the services, hiding their
talents or blocking others from serving the Lord — but those who were in
hiding because of their faith. In the Congo, there is still violence and
murder, some of it in the guise of political ambitions. Anyone with an AK-47
is a liberation movement and they prey upon villagers and Christians. Bro
Toto was concerned for those who had remained faithful despite the horror
and senseless murders and who were hiding for the sake of their children,
villages and families.

We practice our faith openly and freely. We are able to declare Jesus every
day if we so choose. We can boldly go to the worship services, pray and sing
praises to our Father at any time we wish. Many abuse this privilege and
just assume that the church will be there the next time we are motivated to
attend. But there are our brothers and sisters, sincere and caring
Christians, who are in hiding, asking the Lord daily for His blessings and
life.

Today, please, if you have a moment, pray for our hidden brethren in Africa.

Steve
