“Not only that, I think everything is worthless except what is so much more valuable — knowing Jesus Christ, my Lord. I have thrown everything else away because of Him. It’s all garbage! I want to have Christ.” Phil 3:8 (Simple English Bible)
Have you ever anticipated a gift or meal at a fancy restaurant so much that by the time you finally get it, the whole thing seems like a wasted exercise? I remember my Dad telling the family that we would visit the Black Steer, a famous restaurant in Cape Town that reputedly had the best steaks in the city. It was a special occasion of their wedding anniversary and this time, Dad decided to splash out. I starved myself for the whole day, anticipating that the steak I’d have that evening would be the best slice of beef I’d ever taste in my lifetime. When we were there and it finally came, I was disappointed. It was good but not terrific.
When you come down to it, there isn’t anything in the world that lasts very long. The new car is replaced by newer, better, faster models. The eruption in computer technology has ensured that six months later, the “newest” system is old. Yet, in a fast moving world, there is one constant. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever! He is always there! He has promised He’d be with us until the end of the age. Knowing Jesus intimately, as our Savior, is the most valuable thing in our lives!
There is no one greater! After all, we have been invited to sit at the King’s table and eat of the feast He has prepared!
Or maybe you prefer McDonalds?
Steve
(If you’re not satisfied, you want fried with that?)
