Who Are You?

“To the congregation of God in the city of Corinth. You have been made holy in Christ. God called you to be holy. This letter is also addressed to people everywhere who trust the name of Jesus Christ. He rules both them and us.” I Cor 1:2 (Simple English Bible)

The is the first time Paul wrote to the Christians in Corinth. He wrote to the congregation, singular. It was likely that there was any church buildings at the time, set aside for this purpose. The Christians met in the Temple courtyard or any other large space as well as in homes. At the end of Acts 2, we find that the Christians went from house to house daily. I think this was also happening in the wicked city of Corinth, too. But Paul addresses the singular congregation!

We are all called by the same God. We all submitted to His authority. We all were immersed in water. We all declare Jesus as Lord. We all were made holy by God’s forgiveness and grace. We all are His servants, ready to be sent where He chooses. We are all under the rule of the King of Kings!

In this, we should be united, despite our differences of language, culture and race. After all, we are all the sons and daughters of Adam and Eve!

This is who we are!!!
