Wishes!

“Faith is the title-deed to the things we hope for. Faith is being sure of things we cannot see.” Heb 11:1 (Simple English Bible)

When I was a kid, I raced through the fairy tales of almost every book in the local library. There were stories of people wishing things to happen and eventually they did and “lived happily ever after.” I even tried wishing things into being but somehow, reality didn’t want to cooperate. I wished that my ugly 3rd grade English teacher would be transferred but instead, had to bucket down in class and actually learn something! I wished that I would stumble across a buried treasure or gold hidden in a cave but sadly, I lived in a city were there weren’t any chest of treasure buried in the park and there were no caves to expore for hidden gold. I had to learn my lessons in school, stand up straight, clean my room and be polite to my elders.

There is one treasure we can believe in — the home God has promised to all His faithful believers! We can’t wish it into existence because Christ is busy preparing our home for our arrival. Our title-deed for our home in Heaven is our continued faith and service to the King of Kings. The Holy Spirit is the seal on our title-deed and provided we are acting upon our faith every day, it will someday be our home on the streets of gold.

My earthly treasures never materialized no matter how many fairy tales I read. But, my treasure in Heaven is assured if I am faithful until death!
