Faith by Flood

“By faith, when God warned Noah about some future things which could not yet be seen, Noah built a ship to save his family. He respected God. Through his faith, Noah showed that the world was wrong. He received the kind of righteousness what comes from faith.” Heb 11:7-8 (Simple English Bible)

The questionis skirted sometimes and asked in different ways: how do I not only live in the world, but show that my values are different? How do I become that shining light in a world, which is increasingly turning to darkness? The answer appears simplistic: faith!

But we should understand what kind of faith this is. Many times, we think that just being a Christian is good enough. We’re relaxed and happy when Sunday comes around and we can meet fellow believers and share in a worship service. We count this as the most important aspect of our faith — attendance, greeting one another and putting a portion of what we earn into the plate. We can dust off our hands for the rest of the week and cruise until the next Sunday.

Noah’s faith propelled him to built a ship. Not just any ship but an enormous undertaking that took over a century and caused much mocking and jeering by people who saw this crazy man. No one had ever done this before — rain had never fallen either. But through his activities and determination, the boat that eventually saved him and his family was completed.

What will is take to prove the world is wrong? Our faith!

What will it take to complete our faith? Good question! Can you answer it?
